Jerzy Jaromczyk

has been an integral part of the ICPC Mid-Central North America region for many years. As a long-time coach for the University of Kentucky, he has led numerous teams to compete at both the North America Championship and the World Finals.

When the long-standing regional contest site in Kentucky was no longer able to operate, Jerzy took the initiative to establish a new site at his home campus. As Site Director, he reached out to nearby institutions – many of which had not participated in the ICPC for some time, or ever – and successfully encouraged several of them to join the competition.

Following his retirement, Jerzy initially planned to step back from site leadership. However, when it became clear that Kentucky would otherwise be without a regional site, he recruited a colleague from his department to serve as co-Site Director, ensuring that the University of Kentucky could continue hosting the event.

Jerzy exemplifies the dedication and initiative that make the ICPC such a strong and thriving community.
